St Michael’s Parish School, Ashburton
We’re shaping hearts and opening minds.
Education is about more than academics—it’s about shaping hearts, opening minds, and empowering students to build the world they want to live in. It’s about giving them the skills, inspiration, and support to leave the world better than they found it.
We invite you to explore our website, watch our videos, and visit Dear World, where our students share the moments that matter most. Their stories reflect the values, creativity, and impact that define our school. We know that after seeing their work and hearing their voices, you’ll feel inspired and reassured that the future is in good hands.
We look forward to welcoming you into our school community soon.
Why St Michael’s Parish School?
So many reasons – not enough time! But here are a few highlights in just a few minutes!
Meet Our Principal
A warm welcome is extended to all children, their parents families and friends to the St Michael’s school community. We acknowledge that parents are the children’s prime educators and consider ourselves privileded to work in this partnership.
We pride ourselves in providing quuality education which nurtures each child’s spiritual and educational growth within a supportive and enriching environment. At St Michael’s, we place great emphasis on being the ‘face of Jesus’ to all we meet.
We accept that it is our responsibility to provide a balanced curriculum that is relevant to each child and will enable them to learn the skills and knowledge that are required in our contemporary world; caring, creative global citizens.
At Michael’s is a welcoming community of hope where young people have the opportunity to develop their full and individual potential.
Fr Laurence, the staff and I anticipate that all who become associated with St Michael’s will find it a secure, happy and exciting place to be.
I look forward to sharing your child’s educational journey with you.
Mrs Annie Herbison – Principal
Meet Our Teachers
It’s no real secret that the quality of a school is largely influenced by the quality of the staff. We are so fortunate to have a rich diversity of talent, experience, enthusiasm and energy and our teachers truly care. They care for your children and they want nothing more than the best for them. We also believe teaching children is NOT only done at school. We strive hard to build partnerships with you – our parents. It’s what makes us who we are.

Acklowledgement of Country
We would like to acknowledge and pray for the Wurundjeri people, the traditional custodians of this land on which we are gathered. We pay our respects to their elders both past and present and extend our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge that like ourselves, they came from the land. As people from different beliefs and backgrounds, we come together in peace and harmony by respecting the dignity of each person.
